A company that provides paperless billing and electronic patient payment thinks it has found a solution to the cost and complexity of integrating a medical group's Practice Management System with online payments processing.
Instant Integration is part of a patent awarded to Zepherella for a process of connecting currently available Practice Management Systems to payments systems.
The company believes it will significantly improve medical payments processing, and with no setup cost or ongoing monthly fees.
The PatientPay service can be connected to any PMS with a few mouse clicks. The company says the system processes payments in a way similar to an insurance payment. It claims the cost to handle a traditional paper invoice is reduced by up to 50 percent for a $100 payment.
The whole process of integrating all the moving parts of patient billing is a challenge. You have the patient, the provider, the insurance company and the PMS software provider, plus all of their banks. Consumers will have to wait to see if this is the silver bullet, said a payments processing expert at US Dataworks.
