Can A Simple Bus Ride Spark Innovation?

Posted on Mar 13, 2012

Although not payments specific, a video posted on TechCrunch can help entrepreneurs imagine the small things they do every day that really have an impact on our business ecosystem.

Earlier this month, a busload of entrepreneurs loaded up for a four-day trip to South by Southwest Interactive. They formed groups and developed startups, which they'll debut at the conference. This video shows day No. 2 of the trip where the team is (mostly) hard at work.

Here are a few of the startups the group is working on:

  1. Cerealize, a service that lets you create and customize your own healthy cereals and boxes.
  2. Expensiev, a receipt-management system that brings paper receipts into the cloud.
  3. Jeli.co, a location-based plotting tool for storytelling within communities.

As a native Texan, I am thrilled at how the SXSW event has expanded from music to be an event focused on all types of innovation, said Leilani Doyle, vice president for marketing for US Dataworks. At our company, we are always looking for ways to innovate, but after watching this video, I think we need a road trip.
