Every successful executive recognizes the incredible power of a solid team.  If you look around, you will see patterns where executives may move between companies, but always bring their key team members along.  Jessica Hagy contributor to Forbes identified 6 types of people you need to have in your corner.

In my career I have been fortunate enough to work with several teams that accomplished some amazing business and technology successes.  Based on this experience, I would have to agree with Jessica’s concept that these are the people you need in a team in order to achieve extreme success.  In fact, as I was reading the article, I was penciling in names for my team at US Dataworks for each of the 6 people.

You might find it is a fun exercise to look at the best team you have worked with and see if you can pencil in your own names.

Here they are:

  • The Instigator – this is the person that pushes you to think differently and motivates you to make things happen.
  • The Cheerleader -  this is the person who believes in your work and is a strong supporter.
  • The Doubter – the doubter sees problems before they arise and is essential for developing a solid plan.
  • The Taskmaster -  making sure deadlines are met and goals are reached.
  • The Connector -  breaking through roadblocks for you with new avenues and expanded community.
  • The Example -  your mentor  and person whose presences is a reminder that you can do amazing things.

The full article has some really simple diagrams that illustrate each of the concepts.
