It was a full house at 7:30 am, where leaders in the payment processing and treasury management joined US Dataworks and author Ken Segall for an Insanely Simple breakfast and discussion. What began as an executive development exercise at US Dataworks a few weeks ago, turned into an idea for a spectacular breakfast event lead by creative genius Ken Segall who worked closely with Steve Jobs to start the i-frenzy. Ken also authored the New York Best Seller Insanely Simple: The Obsession that Drives Apple’s Success and he used the principals of simplicity as a guide for the breakfast discussion.
The message of simplicity as a compelling differentiator is clear and demonstrated in the success that Apple has achieved. Ken brought the message of simplicity to life with real examples of technical design from Apple’s perspective and contrasted them with the approach of Sony, Dell and Intel. Simplicity can also be a key differentiator when it comes to payment processing.
Payment processing and related treasury management services are growing more complex with a full alphabet soup of rules, regulations, and formats like ACH, SEPA, EDI, X937, NFC and PCI. And it is only getting more complex with emerging mobile payments, prepaid cards and greater internationalization. The challenge for US Dataworks and others that shape the payments industry is to remove this layer of complexity and present a simple and elegant solution for all forms of payment processing.
Ken also visited the US Dataworks Cloud Payment Lounge in booth 1320 at the AFP conference for a book signing. Conference attendees agreed it was worth the wait in line for a personal conversation with Ken, who took the time to answer questions and engage in lively conversations.
